  • Description

Allow Unittravel to lead you to know the highest pyramid in the yucatan peninsula COBA. Unittravel offers you a different option to enjoy history and visit the Mayan community watching the sunset without so many people or a lot of heat.
The Coba temples were built in the Peten style and are located in the southeast of Mexico, in the territory that today is known as the State of Quintana Roo, about ninety kilometers east of Chichen Itza and about forty northwest of Tulum. In its heyday, it had a population of 50,000 inhabitants and an area of 80 square kilometers. Most of the city was built in the middle of the Classic period of the Mayan civilization, between the years 500 and 900 of our era and had several temples, among which the pyramid of Nohoch Mul, 42 meters high, still survives today.
Although it is true that the city was never forgotten, most of the archaeological studies in the area were not carried out, but until the beginning of the 20th century, due to the difficulty imposed by the jungle to reach the site. In 1972 the National Institute of Anthropology and History began to develop the area and build accesses for researchers and visitors. Currently, its ruins are one of the main tourist attractions in the region.
A tour in bicycle where you can appreciate the natural beauty of the jungle and the fauna around the temples. The castle called nohoch -mul where you can climb the highest and concentrate the maximum energy and especially watch the sunset the perfect setting to photograph a life time memory. A perfect combination of ruins, cenotes of crystalline waters and tour around the Mayan community will surprise you as the Mayan people still coexist with their culture. You will also find around the town a natural lagoon, gift shops, small restaurants where you can take advantage of to buy the memories of the trip and also help the Mayan community with its economy.
